Irrigating Rice under Center Pivots & Linears
Valmont is currently overseeing research on producing rice under center pivots and linears. Trials are being conducted in an effort to conserve farm inputs and increase grower profitability. This initiative is appropriately titled Circles for Rice. The process of growing rice under center pivots and linears is patent-pending by Valmont Industries, Inc.
In order to supply up-to-date information on Circles for Rice, Valmont Irrigation has developed a website dedicated to the project, called www.CirclesForRice.com, which is now live. Acting as a portal for anyone interested in growing rice under pivots and linears, the website includes features of the patent-pending process, recent news on rice production and the Valmont project, and specific details on many of the Circles for Rice production locations in the United States, Brazil, and Pakistan. Information on the recent Circles for Rice and University of Missouri Delta Research Center field days (held August 18, 19 & 20, 2009, in Arkansas and Missouri, USA) is also available.
Valmont Irrigation has also developed a blog, which can be found on www.CirclesForRice.com. Weekly posts and updates about the global project are written by certified personnel and members of the Circles for Rice team.
